Sarbajanin (Community) Durga pujos have been celebrated in Bengal and other states of India since 1910. The sounds of “dhaak” and conches, the smell of incense and khichuri and the sight of Ma Durga’s glorious ensemble has been part of the Triangle Bengali community since its inception.

Condensing the six-day long annual festival into 3 day is no mean feat but don’t underestimate the enthusiasm and devotion of the Probasi bengali! From art competitions for the children, local theater productions, dhunuchi naach, sindur khela to visiting artists from India, we pride ourselves for providing an authentic cultural immersion for our community.

Program Details: This year we will celebrate our Durga Puja on October 20-22. For the last several years there has been an increasing demand from members to have Durga Puja at a more central location (with respect to the area where the majority of our members reside). Keeping with that request, we will host this year’s Durga Puja at a central location convenient to our members. The details of the venue will be shared with you in a separate email shortly as we are weighing pros & cons of 2-3 suitable venues in the Cary & Morrisville area.

Please note that there are several changes made in the category for Puja registration to accommodate the Lower rate (Lower than even Last year, in spite of increasing cost). We DO NOT have one-day or Ashtami-special this year but only a 3 day package.

The 3-day package includes

Full access to Puja & Sindur khela,
4 meals (1 meal Veg on Sat noon and 3 Non-Veg), Prasads on all 3 days, 2 snacks (Sat and Sunday) and unlimited Tea/coffee for all 3 days.
Full access to all cultural program including External artist
Free Print copy of Diganta and Member Directory

Pratima Darshan: We will have Sat (Oct 22), 1-3 pm for free Pratima Darshan for non-members ONLY.

Online registration requires the exact names of all the attendees. The BANC Executive team needs to know the exact headcount for efficient planning for the event. So please provide all the required information in the subscription form before submitting it.
We have an Early-Bird Special till October 7, after which the registration rates will go up for the period of Oct 8-12.
Durga Puja registration will CLOSE ON Oct 12 and 11.59 PM. Please register as soon as possible to help us plan better.

Featured artist: JoJo Mukherjee

Miss Jojo or Jojo Mukherjee is a singer cum actress who hails from Kolkata, West Bengal. Jojo is from a musical family, where her father, Mrinal Mukherjee, is a popular singer and actor. Her mother, Shibani Mukherjee, was also a singer. Jojo Mukherjee’s mom used to take her to her concerts and Jojo made her debut in the concerts at the age of 6. When she was 15 years, Jojo became a notable personality, singing in concerts. Besides singing in the concerts and stage shows, Jojo had crooned some jingles. Jojo did her schooling at the South Point High School in Kolkata. Geeta Ghatak and Deepali Nag were her initial trainers. It was Deepali Nag who suggested Jojo concentrate on light music. In 1993, she made her acting debut in Duranta Prem along with Rachna Banerjee and Tapas Pal.
