The history of BANC goes back all the way to 1988, when the organization was first known as North Carolina Bengali Association or NCBA and an executive committee formed. In 2008, we were recognized as a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization.

Throughout the year, we provide several culturally immersive experiences notably, Saraswati Puja, Rabindra Nazrul Jayanti, Dol Purnima, Pohela Boishakh and Durga Puja where we showcase our local talent and bring in performers from near and far to showcase the diversity in art and culture of Bengal.

In addition BANC organizes social events, food drives, health camps, donation drives to support local charities, and volunteer opportunities to build the community. Our community-building extends to the larger Indian and South Asian serving organizations and people of diverse cultural and national backgrounds in the US. We also collaborate with other non profit organizations in the area and institutions of higher education such as Duke University, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and North Carolina State University in presenting programs to showcase Bengali culture.

BANC is as much defined by its youth as by its elders. We believe that our children are the future and nurturing a sense of identity with Bengali culture and community welfare is very important. We welcome everybody regardless of color, caste, race, national origin, ethnicity and religion, who are interested in our culture and heritage, to join us and participate in our celebrations and initiatives. As this community continues to thrive, BANC is always looking to take up new ventures that would continue to bless and define our association with love, light and laughter in the hearts of one and all.

Come join us and enjoy the experience!
